AI Agents Center of Excellence: Operating Model, Guardrails & Cost Control for Copilot Studio at Scale

Session Abstract

As enterprises start adopting Copilot Studio and M365 Copilot, the biggest challenge quickly shifts from “Can we build an agent?” to “How do we scale AI automation safely, consistently, and with clear ownership and cost control?” Without an operating model, organisations typically end up with duplicated agents, inconsistent quality, unclear responsibilities after go-live, rising costs, and governance gaps. In this session, we’ll break down what an AI Agents Center of Excellence (CoE) actually means in practice — and how to launch it using Power Platform as the foundation. You will learn a pragmatic roadmap to move from isolated pilots to a governed platform approach: defining roles and decision rights, setting guardrails (security, data access, approved connectors), establishing publishing and change management, and implementing a support model that survives beyond the initial rollout. We’ll cover the most common real-world failure modes teams face when building production agents — including hallucinations and output quality issues, versioning and lifecycle management, and the “ownership gap” after deployment — and show how a CoE prevents them through simple but effective standards and processes. You will leave with two actionable assets: 1. a 10–15 step CoE launch checklist, and 2. a practical RACI-based operating model you can adapt to your organisation.
