For decades, Knowledge workers, organisations, and KM practitioners, have tried to resolve "the Search problem" without relying on users being fluent in meta data and taxonomy-speak. It has been a constant battle without any winners! Because content management is hard. What is logical and intuitive to one person is far from logical to another, thus we tend to build knowledge systems and content management solutions that equals “knowledge” to “content”, at the expense of experience, expertise, and peer-to-peer learning. Because the explicit knowledge assets have been the easy ones to scale and measure. With modern technology like AI and intelligent solutions like SharePoint Premium, Viva, and Copilot, we now have all the tools we need to be able to mine and tap into all distinct aspects of an organisation’s Knowledge: the codified, documented knowledge and the personal knowledge. In this session we will explore some thoughts and principles for taking an integrated approach to knowledge sharing, retention and monetization and discuss new ways to grow business value by cultivating every aspect of organizational knowledge – that goes beyond mere content management and search!
I have submitted an L100 session "Driving business value through AI-powered Knowledge solutions" that with advantage, if both sessions are accepted, should run as a primer for this session. Please note this session will be L2-300, as I also have a Syntex GBB as co-speaker.
