Most business apps do not lose users with one dramatic failure. They lose them quietly. A confusing screen here. A risky click there. No feedback. No recovery. Too much on one page. Too little guidance. And suddenly the task feels heavier than it should. So users disengage, delay and eventually stop coming back. This session is about that invisible moment: the moment when momentum dies. In this Session i show how game UX solves exactly this problem. Not through gimmicks, and not by turning business apps into toys, but by giving people what they need to keep going: orientation, progress, feedback, clarity and a way back when something goes wrong. In this talk, you will see how five focused UX fixes can transform the feel of a business app, why “serious” design is often still full of unnecessary friction, and how game-inspired thinking can make Power Apps and other business experiences more intuitive, more motivating and far harder to abandon. If you care about adoption, usability and building apps that people do not just tolerate but actually want to use, this session will give you a fresh and practical framework to work with immediately.
I’m Sandra Kiel – gamer, Playpreneur and founder of Event Punks. I help organisations turn dry, complex topics into playful experiences: from gamified Power Apps and Copilot adoption journeys to learning quests in Microsoft 365 and Gaming Platforms like Minecraft. My heart lives where people, play and technology meet. I work with game design principles, storytelling and UX to make change, learning and new tools feel less scary and more human. As an introvert, a mum and a non-native English speaker, I don’t fit the classic “loud tech speaker” stereotype – and I’m totally fine with that. On stage, I share real-world projects, honest lessons and practical patterns teams can reuse the next day. My talks are for people who want less buzzword bingo and more concrete ideas on how to bring play, curiosity and adoption into their everyday work.
