Teaching and mentoring aren’t just things I do - they’re at the heart of what drives me.
Imagine this: a company with over 300,000 users in Entra ID, more than 1000 Power Platform environments, 20,000 Power Apps, 150,000 Cloud Flows, and over 10,000 Copilot Agents, with 1000-2000 new agents created monthly. Looks scary, doesn't it? This is a fact-based story that presents multiple lessons learned, escalations with Microsoft, and rants from governing Power Platform at scale for one of the 100 biggest companies in the world, drawing on insights from over five years of consulting experience in Microsoft Low-Code Technologies. We will cover external governance tools, self-service approaches, credit management strategies and their issues, possibilities for API automations, and much more!
Read morePower Apps is evolving with GenAI and pro-code first apps stepping into the spotlight. But how do they really hold up in practice? After spending the last few months testing Code Apps in private and now public preview, I’ve seen the strengths, the pitfalls, and everything in between. In this session, I’ll share an honest look at where Code Apps shine, where they still struggle, and how you can start making the most of them. I will show you: - Good: The potential and how GenAI technology can empower everyone. - Bad: Current limitations, trade-offs, and gaps compared to traditional Canvas and Model-Driven Apps. - Ugly: Unfiltered view of the friction points, workarounds, and lessons learned during private preview, including a few things that no one would like you to know. - Practical Guidance: Understanding where Code Apps fit into your app strategy today - how to get started and how to prepare for where they’re headed tomorrow. By the end of this session, you’ll walk away with clear insights, real-world examples, and practical tips you can use to decide when and how to bet on Code Apps in your own projects. Ready for a candid conversation about the future of Power Platform? Let’s dive in!
Read moreDid you know that the Canvas apps chart controls have not changed at all in the last 12 years? Or that Canvas apps are actually older than Model-Driven apps as a product? Join me as I delve into the evolution of citizen development tools, starting with a live demo of the 2013 Canvas apps engine, and discover the lessons we can learn from it for the future. Over the past 50 years, low-code/no-code platforms have radically transformed the way applications are built and deployed. At the forefront of this revolution is Microsoft’s Power Platform (Gartner® Magic Quadrant™), which has democratized app development, enabling both developers and non-developers to create powerful applications without deep programming expertise. This presentation examines the evolution of Dynamics, Canvas Apps, and Microsoft’s overall low-code offerings, tracing their development into today’s robust Power Platform ecosystem.
Read moreI will show how modern AI tools can transform the way technical presentations are created, structured, and delivered. Not by replacing the presenter - but by helping them think, research, design visuals, test narratives, and even challenge their own ideas before stepping on stage. You’ll see how AI can assist in the entire presentation lifecycle: from the first rough idea, through research and storytelling, to slide creation and rehearsal. Along the way, we’ll also talk about the traps - hallucinations, over-automation, generic content, and why blindly trusting AI is a great way to ruin a perfectly good talk. I will also show you multiple tools for image, diagram, and, obviously, presentation generation. Expect practical demonstrations, controversial opinions, and an honest look at how presenters can use AI as a creative co-pilot rather than a content factory. By the end of this session, you’ll walk away with practical techniques to: - Generate better presentation structures and narratives using AI - Turn rough ideas into clear talk outlines - Rapidly prototype slides, visuals, and examples - Use AI for research, fact-checking, and idea validation - Avoid the most common AI presentation pitfalls Whether you're preparing conference talks, internal demos, or customer presentations, you’ll learn how to work with AI without losing yourself in the process. Parts of this presentation may or may not have been created with AI. You can bet on that!
Read moreDo you think your Power Platform VNET injection is going to be smooth? Think again. After spending over five years debugging Power Platform at enterprise scale - including one of the world's 100 largest companies - I've seen firsthand how enabling VNET injection can silently break custom connectors or SQL Server connections, how DNS misconfigurations can make entire environments unresponsive, and how Microsoft's own connector implementation doesn't fully route traffic through the gateway it's supposed to use. Yes, you read that right. In this session, I'll explain basics and walk you through the real-world chaos of Power Platform networking in corporate environments, armed with actual error logs, HAR traces, and debugging war stories. This session covers what Microsoft's documentation won't give you. We will talk about: - VNET Injection Pitfalls - How enabling VNET injection can break existing resources, including On-Premises Data Gateway connections and SQL Server operations - DNS: The Silent Killer - Understanding the critical differences between External DNS, Internal DNS, and Azure Resource DNS in corporate environments - and why DNS fallback to the internet can cause false "Unavailable" errors. - Private Endpoints & VNET Peering - What you can (and can't) create Private Endpoints for, and the address planning mistakes that haunt you later. - The Golden Rule - Don't trust anyone, anywhere... including Microsoft. A live debugging methodology for when three parties are pointing fingers, and nothing works. By the end, you'll have a practical playbook for navigating Power Platform networking in complex enterprise environments - and know exactly where the landmines are buried before you step on them.
